Making a difference to specially abled children

About

Our Story

It was 25 years ago that our journey to make a positive difference to the lives of children with disabilities started.  Founder Dr. Kusuma Bhat, a speech pathologist and an audiologist with 40+ years rich experience, who trained grassroots workers in comprehensive care of children with various disabilities, in rural areas of Bengaluru district, laid the foundation of Manonandana.

But why Children with disabilities?

  • Persons with disabilities (PwDs) in India face discrimination every day. Lack of awareness and early identification of challenged children makes it worse. Parents are not fully equipped to handle such children. Most Families may not be supportive.
  • There is also a need for trained faculty to identify, rehabilitate and create an inclusive atmosphere for overall development of children with special needs. Inclusion of special children in society sustained efforts towards awareness and advocacy.

That is what we have tried to do!
