Every child is a different kind of flower that altogether makes this world a beautiful garden.
Neurodiversity describes an individual whose brain functions differently from what is considered “normal”. Some examples are Mental Retardation with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Attention deficit – hyperactivity.
Manonandana Trust is a multi-disciplinary comprehensive rehabilitation centre for such neurodivergent children belonging to lower economic groups. The Trust was established in 1996 and is a registered non-profit organization.
We have touched over 1000+ children and families from the economically backward sections.
We are an 80G, 12 A and Registered Trust under Darpan and CSR1.
- Playing with puzzles, recognising shapes and colours, little games to enhance cognition for better living
Physiotherapy
- Experts come in to enhance and improve motor movement of the special child assisted by teachers. We use state of art equipment for therapy.
Speech language communication
- Speech therapy is essential for neurodivergent children to lead a better life. Basic writing skills .
Sports craft drama
- Small efforts go a long way in instilling confidence in the child in a way that’s fun
Music yoga therapy
- Alternate therapies work wonders! We have uses music and yoga effectively along with expert instructors with good results
Pre-vocational
- As the child acquires basic skills for living and reaches teenage we train them in various skills like painting, weaving to equip them to create opportunities for livelihood
Public awareness program
- Inclusion is a constant struggle for special children. We proactively engage with society to build awareness about children with mental challenges
Parents counselling guidance training
- Through initiatives like Pratibha Kuteera we create support groups of parents of special kids and involve families in the process of inclusion.
Sensory stimulation
- Activities that stimulate a child's sense of touch, smell, taste, sight, movement, and hearing. Working in the garden, playing in the park, we keep kids occupied with various activities
Occupation therapy
- Aiding them to perform daily living skills such as brushing teeth, bathing, or dressing.
Vocational
- Kids who are able to perform daily activities, pick up good self-sustaining life skills are likely to be taken into our Vocational Centre to create job opportunities for them
Our Story
It was 25 years ago that our journey to make a positive difference to the lives of children with disabilities started. Founder Dr. Kusuma Bhat, a speech pathologist and an audiologist with 40+ years rich experience, who trained grassroots workers in comprehensive care of children with various disabilities, in rural areas of Bengaluru district, laid the foundation of Manonandana.
